2015 is one of the rare occasions that ANZAC Day falls on a Saturday, which raises the question…Will there be an additional day off on the Monday for the ANZAC Day Public Holiday.
The short answer is No – there won’t be an additional public holiday on the Monday April 27. Western Australia is the only state that have decided to have an additional day off.
Each state decides independently on whether they will provide an additional day off on the Monday to compensate for the fact that ANZAC Day falls on the Saturday.
The reason that most state governments have noted in making their decision is that ANZAC Day is a day of remembrance and that day is April 25. The last time ANZAC Day fell on a Saturday was in 2009 and no extra day off was granted then either.
In 2015 Boxing Day also falls on a Saturday but fortunately there will be an additional day off granted to mark this Public Holiday.
